About us
We are Tim & Lynette Jenné,
Welcome to New Adventures Sailing. We began this space in 2016 around our classic sailing vessel, a Cheoy Lee 35’, designed by the legendary Robert Perry. Since then we have changed and grown, bringing us to our current space revolving around S/V Redemption, a Kaufman 47’ designed by Michael Kaufman. True to our Mexico Wrap-up video: we have a bigger boat and we are ready to take others with us on New Adventures.
Both of us are high-achievers who work very hard to grow personally and professionally. In June, 2016 we were both in a position where we had lost our regular jobs. We had two choices, get anxious or realize there was a bigger plan in play.
With our four kids successfully leading their own lives, we took a 40-day sabbatical on a boat. We emerged out of that time with clarity to rekindle dreams from our youth, choosing to go back to what we were passionate about. We did the 'responsible' thing and worked hard, raised our kids and launched them into their respective destinies, but did we get lost along the way? In 2003 Tim had planned to get his captain's license and provide people with a captivating experience on the water like he had at age 13. That plan changed when we moved our family to inland Northern California in 2004 in pursuit of some other interests related to our family and our future.
In pursuit of the his Captain’s License, Tim needed 90 sea days that were within the last 3 years - thus the purchase of our Cheoy Lee 35. We sailed over 3,000 miles and got the days needed to apply for Captain’s School. This adventure took us down the California coast from San Fransisco Bay to San Diego, then on down the Baja California coast to Cabo San Lucas and on to La Paz, BCS Mexico! We spent over 5 months in Mexico and in the Sea of Cortez. When we returned to San Diego in April 2017, we determined a change was needed for us to have access to salt water again. We sold our house in Northern California, Lynette was hired to teach Science in Northwestern Washington where we are today. Tim was accepted to Captain’s School and passed all five exams with flying colors, missing only one question, in the fall of 2017.
Using income from teaching sailing from 2017-2021, Tim was able to save up enough to purchase SV Redemption. We are finally ready to take others on beautiful adventures with us!
New Adventures Sailing is based in Sequim, WA. The Strait of Juan de Fuca is the gateway to Canada and the San Juan Islands. We take guests around the islands, remote anchorages and sail the Salish Sea where Orca & Humpback whale sightings are possible. Join us for a sunset sail or a 5-10 day charter.
