Stimulus Detox Experience

$1,150.00

Are you tired of running from one thing to the next? Do you feel like your life is on rails? What quality of decisions would you make if you could just stop long enough to think?

Maybe you need a stimulus detox.

New Adventures Sailing offers an exclusive 4-7 day detox experience.

Start with a ferry ride, we’ll pick you up and take you for a home cooked meal, a 1 hour massage with a nationally certified massage therapist. Then you arrive at the sailing yacht Redemption where you will spend the night aboard in your private cabin. We'll leave for a nearby anchorage for a good night sleep. No technology, we’ll gladly hold your phones or place them in airplane mode. They make good cameras. No social media, news or other external stimulus. We may offer Mocktails or tea for a relaxing evening.

We depart in the morning for the San Juan Islands 25-35 miles across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and arrive a peaceful anchorage on San Juan or Shaw Island.

Since this is a detox, we encourage walks in the woods, paddle boarding or maybe a cold-plunge in the 55 degree Salish Sea. Then warm up and read a book, or just chat about life.

We can arrange whale watching excursions baed in Friday or Roche Harbors via kayak or tour boat.

Sample locally sourced seafood, coffee, ice cream and stroll through small towns along the waterfront.

Maybe even take a nap in a hammock slowly rocking at anchor.

This will be a sober experience, no alcohol needed. We encourage journaling and time to take inventory of your life and opportunities.

Ready to reset? Sail on Redemption.

Peel Away the old...

Back in 2000, Lynette used PeelAway on our 100 yr old house to remove 12 layers of paint, it was the safest, easiest way to remove lead-based paint. Now that company has come a long way, they have formulas for nearly any finish. PeelAway 7 is for varnish, epoxy and poly finishes. It's pretty amazing.

Dock Day 32 11/05/2016 San Diego, CA

We had to head back to the marina to meet up with Rocco the Rigger by 1100. We un-rafted from Janny and Steve’s boat without issue. While Tim was working with Rocco I was cleaning off the Peel Away. The Cetol responds very strangely, it just flakes off making it very difficult for me to contain. It doesn’t stick to the paper like paint will. Washing the wood off with a rag leaves a lot of orange in my bucket. I’m so pleased with how well the Peel Away has removed all this evil finish. Tim is excited to see how it looks after a prep sanding when the wood is dry.

It took me almost until dark to clean out all the decorative black caulking on the teak. I’m very tired. Tim and went out for pizza because we were both so tired from all our working today. Then we watched another girly movie and had some good laughs.

Dock Day 33 11/06/2016 San Diego, CA

Today Tim is teaching another sailing class so I was all by myself at the boat. I applied Peel Away on the port side cockpit and on the transom trim after I went shopping again. It took me about four hours to complete the preps, set-up and clean up. Then I applied some window cling to the port light in the head for some privacy. I have this strange paranoia that I might flash someone on the dock while taking care of my life businesses. This paranoia is especially strong at night when the light is on in the head. Now I have peace that this will not happen. Yay! Now I can relax!

Tim was still gone when I was done with what I have already written about so I labeled out binders that house all the manuals for all our special boat equipment. This eliminates the guessing on which binder the info will be in so we can get to the information faster. Hurray for efficiency!

Tim had a great time teaching today. We are both very tired from the time change and it becoming dark so early all of a sudden. We had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato basil soup for dinner. It was the perfect meal since it has been getting much cooler when the sun goes down.

After a trip to Starbucks for a data run, we called it a night. Tomorrow will be a full day of cleaning off all that Peel Away that I placed today.

Dock Day 34 11/07/2016
Today was an exhausting day! I woke up so early, 0530. The time changes just mess me up for a week! I did not go shopping today! Yay! I spent the entire day of daylight cleaning off the Peel Away from the transom trim and the port side. All that I set up yesterday. I still have about 6 feet of the black caulking goop to remove as the daylight disappeared before I was done. I’m flat out tired! I also have little sore spots in my hands and tight muscles in my whole body from doing a contortionist’s balancing act to clean off the Peel Away. I’m going to sleep great tonight.

Tim had to do work items today that involved non-manual labor. We also did not get the call that our sails are ready. Hopefully tomorrow we will get them. Our satellite communicator came today and that has been a drama! I think the delivery drivers around here are crooked. Details don’t line up with what they are reporting back to Amazon.

Tim & Lynette Jenné have their feet firmly planted in midair. We don't know what tomorrow brings, but are very excited to see what surprises come our way. Tim's favorite leadership quote:
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Captain John Jenne (1596 - 1643), son of Henry Jenne and Mary Smythe, was born 21 December 1596 at Lakenham Parish, Norfolk, England; He married Sarah Carey. They emigrated to the Colonies from Leyden in 1623 aboard the Little James, accompanied by the ship Anne. Their daughter Sarah was born 23 July 1623, at sea.
